Barcelona head coach Hans-Dieter Flick summed up the results of the match of the 7th round of La Liga against Real Sociedad, which ended with a 2-1 victory for the Catalans. For Barca, it was not only an important victory in the tournament, but also an emotionally significant game that allowed the team to strengthen its leadership in the championship.
"It was very difficult for us, but we deserved this victory. I really like the way my team plays, the way it operates on the field. It doesn't matter if we change the starting line—up a little bit - everyone gives their all, and I'm very impressed with that. I'm proud of them. It's unbelievable. I think this Victoria will really help us continue to progress," Flick said in an interview with the club's press service.

The German specialist stressed that the meeting with the Basques turned out to be difficult, largely due to the tight schedule and personnel losses, but the team managed to demonstrate character and endurance.
According to Flick, the key to victory was not only the organization of defense, but also the ability to launch quick attacks. Real Sociedad tried to impose a fight in the center of the field, but the Catalans used the free zones wisely. Ferran Torres, who scored an important goal, stood out in particular, as did the young players who got a chance to prove themselves.
Flick also noted the contribution of the players who came off the bench: "The substitutions refreshed the game. It is important for me to see that every player, even if he is not at the start, is ready to help the team as much as possible. This creates an atmosphere of unity and confidence."
The victory over Sociedad allowed Barcelona to score 19 points after seven rounds and maintain their lead in the La Liga table. Real Madrid and Atletico continue to be the main pursuers, but the Catalans are still confidently holding the first position.
The fans noted that the team is gradually becoming more balanced: Barca remains effective in attack, and acts more reliably in defense than at the beginning of the season.
Flick has repeatedly stressed that a new work model is being built at Barcelona, where trust in young players and strict discipline play a key role. The victory over Sociedad was another confirmation that the course was chosen correctly.
The German coach, who joined the club in the summer of 2025, has already managed to create a competitive team that combines the experience of leaders and the talent of young players like Lamin Yamal and Pedro Fernandez.
Barca's next match will take place on October 5 against Sevilla. This game may become a key one in the context of the struggle to maintain leadership in La Liga and set a new club record for a series of matches with goals.
"We have to stay hungry for wins, respect the opponent and always play to the max," Flick summed up.
